The Rugby Academy at St Peter’s, Cambridge is one of our four Junior Sports Academies. It is designed for Years 7–10 students and operates as part of their Physical Education curriculum. The Junior Sports Academies will deliver the same outcomes as the Physical Education curriculum but through the context of their chosen sport.

The Junior Sports Academies provide students with a unique opportunity to develop both physical and mental sport-specific skills under the tuition of experienced coaches.

Students receive expert guidance in each academy on individual core skills, game understanding and an introduction to Strength and Conditioning which is underpinned by the New Zealand Curriculum.

The Junior Sports Academies are designed to ensure all students reach their full potential in their chosen sport.

Our Rugby Academy delivers a top-quality player development programme based on New Zealand Rugby’s pillars of player development:

  • Physical — strength, fitness, and movement skills
  • Technical and Tactical — skills-based training progressing to on-field implementation
  • Mental — building players who are confident, resilient, and enjoy the game
  • Cultural — fostering players who have a strong team spirit, and who understand the standards of on-field and off-field behaviour required of rugby players

Our Rugby Academy provides students with clear pathways to achieve their goals in rugby as players, referees, or in off-field roles.
