Great start to rowing season

The St Peter’s team had a fantastic regatta weekend this past weekend, racing in both the Cambridge Town Cup Regatta and North Island Club Champs.

The whole team of 86 rowers competed well, especially after their camp earlier in the week and with the very hot racing conditions.

The novices had an outstanding day the North Island CC by placing in all five A Finals, topping it off with a gold medal performance in the Novice 8+ (Samara Mockford, Holly Williams, Aaliyah Brown, Fran Pollock, Caitlin Huxtable, Siobhan Coulson, Kari Loveridge, Madi Fuller and coxswain Ruby Butler).

At the Cambridge Town Cup the Seniors (U18 and U17’s) lead the way with the boys winning the U17 Single, Double and Quad and the girls winning the U18 Pair and Four and U17 Single and Double. The U15 Girls also had a strong regatta by winning the U15 Octuple and placing second in the eight and third in the double.

The coaching team was really happy with the performances and now look forward to building the team up towards North island Secondary School Champs and then onto Maadi down south in Twizel.

Overall results were as follows:

Cambridge Town Cup Regatta
25 A Finals
13 B Finals
1 C Final
8 Firsts
5 Seconds
3 Thirds

North Island Club Champs
5 A Finals
2 B Finals
1 Gold
3 Silvers
1 Bronze
